Grief and Trusting God
Share
Part two of Grief series
Last time I talked about the promises of God and that that is where I find my strength and hope.
This is about trusting God. His promises are sure but if you do not trust, knowing them won't make a difference, It won't give you the hope and strength that you may need.
I realize that had this loss come during my non-spiritual sabbatical I would have lost my way. I would have probably had doubts as to why Lord? I may have gone down a very dark hole.
So even in the midst of this season of loss I am given proof of trusting God's timing and His way.
“For my thoughts are not your thoughts, neither are your ways my ways,” declares the Lord. “As the heavens are higher than the earth, so are my ways higher than your ways and my thoughts than your thoughts. Isaiah 55:8-9
We are not capable of
- His thoughts,
- His understanding,
- His planning,
- His care
- His love
- His grace
- His wisdom
- His discretion
- His justice
- His provision
- His mercy
So we are not going to understand His plans.
For we walk by faith not by sight. 2 Corinthians 5:7
Now faith is the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen. Hebrews 11:1
We have to develop faith in God and He will use any and everything to get us there.
And truly when you think how great is our God, why should we not trust Him?
He is the Alpha and the Omega the beginning and the end.
I am Alpha and Omega, the beginning and the ending, saith the Lord, which is, and which was, and which is to come, the Almighty. Revelations 1:8
He is omnipotent, omniscient, and omnipresent. God has all power, He is all-knowing and He is all present. We have to in the middle of the darkness of grief remember who God is and accept His decision.
Truthfully I will say that some of the peace I have during this time is because I do trust God.
Here are some scriptures that make me realize I will should trust Him.
Peace I leave with you, my peace I give unto you: not as the world giveth, give I unto you. Let not your heart be troubled, neither let it be afraid. John 14:27
The secret things belong to the Lord our God, but the things revealed belong to us and to our children forever, that we may follow all the words of this law. Deuteronomy 29:29
A man's heart plans his way, But the Lord directs his steps Proverbs 16:9
"Is anything too hard for the LORD? At the time appointed I will return unto thee, according to the time of life, and Sarah shall have a son." Genesis 18:14
And the peace of God, which passeth all understanding, shall keep your hearts and minds through Christ Jesus. Philippians 4:7
“For my thoughts are not your thoughts, neither are your ways my ways,” declares the Lord. “As the heavens are higher than the earth, so are my ways higher than your ways and my thoughts than your thoughts. Isaiah 55:8-9
The Lord of hosts hath sworn, saying, Surely as I have thought, so shall it come to pass; and as I have purposed, so shall it stand: Isaiah 14:24
And he said unto me, My grace is sufficient for thee: for my strength is made perfect in weakness. Most gladly therefore will I rather glory in my infirmities, that the power of Christ may rest upon me. Therefore I take pleasure in infirmities, in reproaches, in necessities, in persecutions, in distresses for Christ's sake: for when I am weak, then am I strong. 2 Corinthians 12 9-10
But as it is written: “Eye has not seen, nor ear heard,
Nor have entered into the heart of man. The things which God has prepared for those who love Him.” But God has revealed them to us through His Spirit. For the Spirit searches all things, yes, the deep things of God. 1 Corinthians 2:9
