Improve Year by Understanding Your Assignments

Written 1-23-18

January with its snow and chill is almost over and I wanted to just share something that has been very thought-provoking for me.

One of the things my hubby, awesome man that he is, got me was a three pack of Mandisa CDs for Christmas.   I could not wait for everyone to get out of the house and have a private praise/dance party.  When it happened I had a blast and thought to myself why did I ever stop doing this?   So I decided that one of my goals is to have myself a praise party at least 2 times a month.

I am not one to have my goals (I do goals not resolutions) ready on January 1.  I have thought about them during December and even written them down but I break it down more in January.

The teacher and planner in me needs a real plan.  I like to be intentional.

God works in mysterious ways yet he is intentional.  He has a plan for our lives and in this season of your life, he has an assignment.  Or as one of my pastors says an arrow.

I am a huge believer in the thought process that …

God is not going to move you out of a season until you have learned what it is He wants you to learn or experience or develop.

In keeping with the new year, it might be eye-opening to take some time and write out the seasons that you are in. It is more than likely that you are in multiple seasons. I am a wife, mother, daughter, teacher (home school), business owner, sister, and friend.

And in the season of business owner what is my assignment? To encourage Christians to read their Bibles for that is where our wisdom comes from.

And then figure out what is my assignment here?  After figuring out your assignment spend some time determining what steps am I taking to complete this assignment, what is God trying to develop in you, and how to get more out of it.

This is a link to the sermon that was preached by Ashley Hope Daugherty that got me really spinning on this.  I took some time the next week to write out my list of seasons and assignments.

Two months later I had time to create a form and after spending the weekend on filling out my mother, teacher, and wife sheets I saw that this is really the best place to plan my year and my goals.

As I take into account what God is trying to develop in me and think of the steps it just sifts out the unimportant things.

For instance, as a mother, one of the assignments is to further my children in their faith and I think a good way to do that is to show them praise God where you are.

They know some of the things I want but have not received.  But how powerful is it to show your children that even while I wait for him I will praise him.

I want to share the form with you.  I am praying that you get as much out of the form and spending the time working on it as I did.
