Sustaining Faith

Sustaining Faith

I frequently see posts about how God has always supplied the clients needed for the business. I say congratulations to those who businesses from the moment you opened the door the clients came and it was mostly or totally smooth sailing.

I am not one who opened my doors and clients came.  And I want to speak and encourage others who are in the same boat.

We need to be sure we are called to do what we are doing but once we are sure and we are not experiencing success, what to do next?

We keep walking the path God has us on.   We keep believing in the purpose He has given us.

Sustaining faith is about believing that God has given you a purpose and you are walking in His plan and, even though you have not seen the plan fully bloom, you keep moving forward in steps orchestrated by God. It is the faith to keep going even when nothing seems to be working.

It is trusting God despite your social media not blowing up. It is trusting God despite your bank account not changing or changing in the wrong direction. It is about trusting God and His timing and plan. It is about letting Him lead and not pushing our agenda or our plan but waiting for Him to open doors.

It is knowing as it states in Romans 8:28 AMP  And we know [with great confidence] that God [who is deeply concerned about us] causes all things to work together [as a plan] for good for those who love God, to those who are called according to His plan and purpose.

Romans 8:28 AMP

Basically, if God has me here it is for a purpose. So, we stop and determine the purpose.

In sustaining faith, we have the opportunity to grow deep roots.

In sustaining faith, we have the opportunity to deepen our walk with God

In sustaining faith, we have the opportunity to build/work on our character.

In sustaining faith, we get to show God our trust in Him when we keep moving forward.

This walk of sustaining faith is not remotely easy.  There are times when you think, “I surely heard God wrong”.

It will be easy to

  • compare (don't)
  • quit
  • stop moving from fear
  • stop moving from uncomfortableness
  • help God along
  • do it culture’s way and hustle and grind
  • try to be like others who seem to be winning

Don't.

You are a unique child of God and He has you on this path for a reason. Trust His process and His timing. Don't create a situation that may set you back further.

Remember we are in training as it says in 1 Corinthian 9:24-25: Run [your race] in such a way that you may seize the prize and make it yours! 25 Now every athlete who [goes into training and] competes in the games is disciplined and exercises self-control in all things.

Remember God has gifted you for this task; become like Paul in 2 Corinthians 4:8 -and refuse to give up hope or lose your motivation.

You may be pressured in every way [hedged in], but you are not crushed.  You may be perplexed [unsure of finding a way out], but do not let the devil drive you to despair. You may feel hunted down and persecuted, but you are not deserted [to stand alone]. It may feel like you have been struck down, but you cannot be destroyed.

Because greater is He that is in you than He that is in the world. Do not ever forget that the same spirit that raised Jesus from the dead is within you. He will sustain you. Philippians 4:13 AMP I can do all things [which He has called me to do] through Him who strengthens and empowers me [to fulfill His purpose—I am self-sufficient in Christ’s sufficiency; I am ready for anything and equal to anything through Him who infuses me with inner strength and confident peace.]

2 Corinthians 5:10 AMP

One last thing: the reason you cannot quit before God releases you is stated well in 2 Corinthians 5:10 AMP  For we [believers will be called to account and] must all appear before the judgment seat of Christ, so that each one may be repaid for what has been done in the body, whether good or bad [that is, each will be held responsible for his actions, purposes, goals, motives—the use or misuse of his time, opportunities and abilities].  and we do not want to be lacking, do we sisters?
