This Easter, God Can Resurrect Your Dreams Too Christian Mama
Share
Have you tucked away a dream because motherhood came first?
As Easter approaches, I've been reflecting on the profound message of resurrection – not just of our Savior, but of the dreams and purposes God plants within us.
Between school drop-offs, endless snack requests, bedtime stories, and the beautiful chaos of raising little ones, it's easy to believe that your personal dreams must remain buried. That somehow, being "Mom" means setting aside the other callings on your heart.
As mom's we feel like everything must be perfect before we can feel good about it. I did not want to get a greenhouse because I did not want to have to take it down and put it up. I wanted either a permanent one or nothing at all.
I did not want to get a greenhouse because I did not want to invest anymore in my current house and yard. But that is not valuing what God has given me here and now, that is waiting for a future that is not promised to me.
Not to mention that if I cannot manage a little one God is unlikely to give me the upgraded version I so desire.
His lord said unto him, Well done, good and faithful servant; thou hast been faithful over a few things, I will make thee ruler over many things: enter thou into the joy of thy lord. Matthew 25:23
While I have dreams of a huge garden and orchard it starts with baby steps. It starts with one pot then 10.
I love the bible for when we want to beat ourselves up we can go to it and find stories of others God used and how they handled things. We can find principles that help us steward what we have been given well.
When you are doubting the time that it is taking for your dream to come to be or if the dream is even from God think on these examples from the bible.
Sarah's Laughter Restored
Remember Sarah in Genesis 21? At 90 years old, long past what seemed possible, she held her promised son Isaac in her arms. The Bible tells us, "The Lord visited Sarah as He had said, and the Lord did to Sarah as He had promised" (Genesis 21:1).
Sarah had laughed in disbelief when God first promised her a child.
Years passed.
Hope dimmed.
Yet God's timing was perfect – not early, not late, but precisely on time. And when Isaac (whose name means "laughter") was born, Sarah's dream was resurrected in a way that brought glory to God.
Hannah and her hope
Let's not forget Hannah and her dream of a child. Though she had a husband who loved and valued her she wanted a child. Year after year do you think that dream was just hers? She wanted a child but God desired Samuel.
What she was praying for God used in a mighty way. What desire is on your heart and will not go away? Might God be putting that desire there for His purpose?
The Disciples' Shattered Dreams
Think too of Jesus' disciples that first Easter weekend. These men and women had left everything to follow Jesus, believing He would restore Israel. Then came the cross. Their Teacher, their Hope – gone. Dreams shattered.
For three days, those dreams lay buried with Jesus in the tomb.
But Sunday came. And with it, resurrection! Not just of their Lord, but of their purpose, their calling, their understanding of God's plan.
What seemed like the end became the glorious beginning.
Your Dreams Matter to God
Dear mama, I want you to hear this truth today: The season of raising little ones is holy work, but it doesn't mean God has forgotten the other dreams He's placed in your heart.
"For I know the plans I have for you," declares the LORD, "plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future." (Jeremiah 29:11)
Maybe it's:
Whatever it is, God sees it. And just as He rolled away the stone on Easter morning, He can resurrect dreams in His perfect timing.
Small Steps Toward Big Dreams
This Easter season, I want to encourage you to:
Remember, the same power that raised Christ from the dead lives in you (Romans 8:11). The God who specializes in resurrection can breathe new life into the dreams you thought were gone forever.
This Easter, as we celebrate our risen Savior, may you also experience the resurrection of hope and purpose in your own heart.
Walking with you,
"Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ! According to his great mercy, he has caused us to be born again to a living hope through the resurrection of Jesus Christ from the dead." – 1 Peter 1:3
I'd love to hear about the dreams God has placed on your heart!
